Thule Quick Draw Kayak Roof Rack Tiedown

These are great! Before I purchased the quick draw tie downs - I tried using straps for bow and stern anchoring. I found the straps very difficult to use. The tie downs are very easy to use even for a novice. They are also much better in your field of vision that wider straps. These are definitely worth the investment!

Thule Quick Draw Kayak Roof Rack Tiedown

I've used these IN ADDITION to cam straps on my roof rack. I've been on a couple of trips and the longest was 400 miles each way. On the trip I just so happened to be in a VERY bad storm, with 60 mph crosswinds in addition to me traveling down the highway and they held up just fine. When you first get them you thread the rope through the ratchet assembly. There's an arrow molded into the plastic indicating which way the rope should go and the entrance and exit hole are the same size as the rope so it appears to be impossible to get this mixed up. The ratchet itself has a simple mechanism for you to release the tension when you're ready to, simply by pushing up on it. Each assembly comes with 2 hooks, although I only use 1 of them. The end with the removable hook I simply tie to the tow hooks under the car.
