    Poor manufacturing

I bought this to carry plates and silverware on the river. First box showed up with manufacturing defects so bad the lid wouldn't even close all the way, no big deal because I was sent another box in exchange. The second box had good plastic milling but the gasket isn't even close to creating a tight seal. Had this box on top of the raft stack and just the splashing water going over the box was enough to leave the entire bottom soaked in water. NRS has really missed the mark with this box.

    The Improvements Show

For years, my York Pack boxes in this size were the go-to kitchen box for all sorts of camping -- archaeology, filming, river, car, horse packing, even dirtbag motel camping. The new NRS Boulder box has 95 percent of the features of the old box, plus a simpler, more effective strap closure system. The new box seems more rugged and the lid fits tighter. The only feature I miss is the side handle. The end handle makes swinging it on to a flat surface a little more awkward. Kudos to NRS for taking over design and production of this box to make a good product better and keep a timeless design alive.

    Tough Box

I use this as a kitchen box for canoe camping. Works great for two people for three/four days. Tough material, good cam buckle straps and easy to carry when full.

The ONLY wilderness canoe trip box!

Was stunned when York Packs died. Still have 7 of those green/ yellow beauty's. This product is almost exactly the same. You can even figure out how to rig the strap closure to close the same way the Yorkies closed. I'm hopelessly addicted to solo wilderness trips in canoes. Lower Canyons of Rio Grande (13 trips), Grande Ronde River, Smith River, etc. Always solo paddle a tandem canoe turned around. Nothing better than looking down at four NRS Boulder Boxes (or York packs) perfectly fitted into the space in front of me.
