    Well Worth the Investment

I have owned this tent for ten years and it has seen a lot of use at high altitudes in the mountainous regions out west. I have had many tents over the years. I place priorities on lightness, simplicity of set up, quality of build and protection from the elements. This tent, a self standing single wall Gortex tent, does all of those things better than any tent I have owned. Let me start by addressing the issues from a prior review where the reviewer complained about seam sealing, center pole grommets and the interior ties for the aluminum shock cords. When I got my tent it came with seam sealer and an applicator. I never did seam seal the tent. I have been tent bound in the tent for 24 hour spells in rain and the tent never leaked so I have never seen a reason to seam seal it. Nonetheless I do not have any beef with the manufacturer for recommending this procedure. I just never got around to it and do not think it is really necessary. Regarding the center pole grommet, if you just bent the two section shock cord slightly in the form of a shallow arc to conform to the curve of the top section of the tent, the center pole goes in easily and without effort. With regard to the plastic conformers that hold the aluminum shock cords in place, the prior reviewer felt they were cheap and difficult to use. This is just silly, you give them a quick twist and bingo, the shock cord is in place. Honestly, the shock cords conform so closely to the contour of the tent you do not even need…
