    Secure and Funtional.

My experience with the Fat Cat rack was positive. I've owned Yakima racks for many years and they have always served me well. I liked the Fat Cat for being stream line design and serves it propose to secure skis and a board along with a fishing pole or two. It is easy to use and secures our items with no issues. Latching the items can be a little hard but once it's down they are in and secure. This is the way most racks of this design work by clamping down . I was surprised that we didn't notice any noise on a 19 hour road trip with the rack loaded.

Installation was fairly easy took about 30 minutes, Read the instructions , not a giant fan of the metal band and thumb wheel tightener but once you have it fastened it works. The key lock is secure and didn't have any issues, however this is a very old lock design as it's the same as on my very old rack from the late 80s. Be aware that you must keep the rack locked all the time if you want to be sure they can't be stolen. All in all I'm very happy with the rack and time will tell. The rack is on my sons Honda Element a first time user of ski racks and college student In Colorado I liked this so much I've ordered another for my Daughters Subrau .
