Same protection for less bulk and weight of other dry bags. I just got back from a 60 mile backpacking trip. I used a lot of dry bags because we were doing a lot of river and stream crossings without bridges and I didn't want to risk wet clothes/sleeping bag/tent in the mountains... my other bags were bulkier and so much heavier and I really regretted that extra weight a few miles in. If I could return the others for this brand, I would in a heartbeat. If you don't need thicker dry bags for flotation purposes (like kayaking trips) I would go for these.
