Used skirt for 3 days and 45 miles in river, it was great in all conditions. Kept water out of boats on rapids. Could open easily to get to water I kept inside boat, could get in and out of boat leaving skirt on boat. This was real nice on hot days, as it kept the seat covered from the sun heating it up. Used the zippered pockets on top for a couple small things and trash when needed. I didn't need to use the straps, as with the Velcro strips on it I had no problem adjusting it to stay up and be comfortable.
