NRS Chinook Fishing Kayak Lifejacket:
Don't forget a Lifejacket Hydration Pack. It's one of our most popular selling items. We all use it and think it's the best!
I hate wearing a vest but I know I have to or I might get a ticket. This fishing vest is the most comfortable one that I’ve found. The foam doesn’t go all the way down in the back so I can sit against the seat back and not feel like I’m leaning on a pillow. And with all the pockets I actually don’t mind. I keep my radio in one, my plano tackle box in another, and still have room for all my XTools, and a few jerky sticks. I love the visible orange, too. Don't want to be run over by a motor boat!
Great design for the fisherman, however very functional for any recreational paddler. Ample pockets with lots of space (fly boxes, camera ect). High back pad makes it extremely comfortable with kayaks that have adjustable seat backs! Great Product.
Have used this in Canoes in MS, paddling the San Juan in UT, and Fishing in AZ and find it very comfortable, adjustable, and user friendly. I'm a big guy and it floats me well.
I use this vest every time I go out as it is part of my usual fishing gear from my canoe. It is a great compliment to the vest I use when wading. It has plenty of pockets but could be a little less bulky. Overall, a good value for the money.
I was on an 8 day canoe/fishing trip in northern Minnesota on some small-medium sized lakes. I really liked having both a fishing vest with all my accoutrements -- clippers, hemastats, flyboxes, tippit -- on my vest. My only complaint, and it's not a huge one, is that the pockets for my flyboxes were a bit too small. We If it were strickly flyfishing, I probably could have gotten by, but since we would through some spinning lures during the heat of the day, the boxes I had for those lures were a little big for the vest. It would be great if the manufacturer could make the pockets another 20% bigger.
I just made the switch from a traditional PFD that I've had for 10 years, to this lower-profile PFD. I'm extremely happy with the Chinook. Unlike my old flotation device, the shoulders adjust, so when I sit down in the kayak, it does not ride up, but stays exactly where it belongs. The side adjustments are very flexible, with more than one strap on each side to give a great fit. I don't fish, but the little pockets on the front are GREAT for my paddling gloves, whistle, compass, allinone tool and other safety equipment. Instead of having an extra bag for the little sutff, I leave it all in my Chinook pockets, knowing I an just grab the PFD, my paddle, throw the boat on the roof and go, without gathering a bunch of stuff together. Well done, NRS, great PFD.
Great design for sit-on kayaks with high back seats. The floatations do not interfear with movement neccessary to cast your rod or land the fish. It has many adjustments to allow for various ways to adjust for layered clothing. The design is very different from my PDF, I use in my sit-in x-c/traveler kayak.

I have practiced self rescue and the pfd and kept me afloat. The foam in the front did not prevent me from re-entering the yak
