Advanced Elements Advanced Frame Sport Inflatable Kayak

If you plan on milder kayaking activities (lakes, calm rivers, inland waters), prefer the ease of a lighter weight kayak for backpacking or hauling around, feel more comfortable in an open design, or are on a tight budget, the Sport is a great choice and loads of fun.

Advanced Elements Advanced Frame Sport Inflatable Kayak

The Sport may be right for you if you are looking for a lightweight, super compact, affordable inflatable kayak that is good for traveling, for kids or for easy recreational fun. However, if you are concerned at all with performance, with being able to paddle in different types of water, with tracking or with weight capacity, then the Sport is likely not your kayak. The Sport may be good to take traveling, but if it were me, I would want my traveling inflatable kayak to not only be light weight but also to be versatile enough to handle more types of water. I think I would choose the Advanced Frame over the Sport and deal with the extra ten pounds just to have a more versatile and better performing kayak.

Advanced Elements Advanced Frame Sport Inflatable Kayak

This is my first kayak, and it is easy to set up, handle/maneuver and stow. It's a bit tricky to get out of, but it's only my own aging body that is the problem, not the kayak. I am developing better techniques with every outing. My only cons are that there is not much storage for more than a one day outing--but some creative packing and a couple of deck bags may solve that for an overnighter. My kayaking buddy is considerably taller than I am and says the leg/foot room is a bit short, so for a long-legged person, it might be too short. I have considerable experience with quality inflatables, and for the money, this one can't be beat. I've used inflatables that were 2x the price and half the boat! I highly recommend it!
