12-02-2008 - I had been looking at purchasing a kayak for about a month. I am 5'11" and 200 lbs. I demo’ed the new 2009 Tarpon Sit-on-top and all I can say is “WOW”! The new updated hatches are great and the new seat is really comfy. And the SlideTrax system…. I loved it! The Tarpon has a very dry ride (nice raise to the seat for that), good speed, and is very stable. Mine is outfitted with a fishing package so I can use it for fishing when I want. If you are looking for a new kayak definitely checkout the new Tarpon 120 by Wilderness Systems! Rating: 10 of 10
08-15-2007 - This is an awesome boat. If you are like me and like to paddle on large lakes, small shallow rivers, and hit small rapids (class I and II), then this is a perfect boat. The 12’ has a nice blend of speed for the larger lakes, but it's still small enough to handle the faster rivers. And it is a blast on the fast rivers. I have taken it over class II rapids, and then fished the slower sections of the river. This is a very comfortable boat, easy to get in and out of, even in the middle of the lake, and you can carry a ton of gear. My fishing poles even slide right into the bow hatch and I don't even have to break them down. Yes, it is a little heavy, but that’s what those splendid little carts are for! Also, my four year old daughter loves it too. She fits right into the tank well and points out all the fish and turtles along the way. Rating: 10 of 10
