SUP Brah Tie Down System
Yakaima S.U.P. Brah Bow/Stern Tie-down - The S.U.P. BRAH nose/tail tie-down system from Yakima is for stand-up paddleboards and other board styles. The combination of your board being shaped like a big wing and the force of the air hitting against it on a moving vehicle can be enough to yank your boards and rack clean off. The S.U.P. Brah helps eliminate this possibility, keeping your board where it belongs. It works with even the longest boards, but can also be used on a variety of watercrafts that lack the tie down points for additional security. Keep your board safely in place during travel with the Yakima S.U.P. Brah tie-down system.

Since the brah and needed tie downs are just straps it is cumbersone at best and usually time consuming and frustrating to secure a SUP to most vehicles. When i tried to use it on my Ford Expedition which is tall it was next too impossible. My smaller cars were more managable but i can't recommend this product - just too much hassle after a good paddle. Also it is not a secure system so you risk getting it ripped off while you are in the water or you have to stow and reassemble it all each time.
Had searched for awhile for a solution on how to transport a 16' foldable Port A Bote. After reviewing numerous types of carriers and tie downs settled on the YAKIMA line of products for transporting paddle boards. Very pleased with the the Yakima SUP lock down carrier used with the tie downs. Holds the collapsed Port A Bote securely on top of the van at highway speeds. Price and quality is excellent.

This is a clever design (although somewhat obvious after you use it), is sturdy, and easy to place on the boards. I used it to keep three boards on a roof for a ten hour drive, and it worked well. Only complaint would be the metal hooks, which should having a closing mechanism like a carabiner. When you come to a stop, the boards shift forward very slightly, and the hook comes off the front of the car, so when you start driving again the front strap goes flying back, and off goes the hook. I bought two carabiners (for front and back straps) so that doesn't happen anymore. Also, be sure to check the straps routinely for wear.
