These brackets really help hold the canoe down in Wyoming cross winds.

These brackets are nicely finished and easy to adjust and use. The included straps have a really nice padded surround on the buckle, but the buckle itself is totally unsafe. It feels secure, but very easily releases suddenly even when you hold the cam hard against the strap when tightening. Very inferior to our favorite brand buckle, which has sharper teeth.

Bought to use with 17 foot Grumman canoe on my 2003 Dodge Dakota Quad-cab on a 2000 mile trip. When strapping down the canoe, the brackets flex a bit too much, allowing some movement as straps stretch during the day. Had to adjust several times each day, and when I ran into a storm with 30-40 mph crosswind that switched direction, the canoe "adjusted itself" a bit too rapidly for my tastes. Such things happen when driving long distances with a canoe on top, but I had hoped it would work better than my pre-Yakima tie-down methods. If the bracket allowed a toe-in adjust to fit better against the curved gunwhales on the canoe, it would have helped even with the flexing. Overall, not bad, but didn't work as well as they look.

Performs just as it was designed to do, holds my 15ft canoe nice and tight. Easy to load from the rear, one man job.
