My wife and I got this bag for a move across country. I have to say, it help up quite well. We don't have any sort of bars or rack on our roof, and the straps held amazingly well. The bag held a ton of stuff. It did create some drag, but for at least $200 less than a hard shell unit, it was worth it. The only issue was that we got stuck in a very serious heavy rain storm. It did let some water into the bag. Nothing major considering how much it was raining, but some clothes did get wet. I wouldn't recommend putting anything sensitive inside the bag.
We purchased this luggage bag for a trip from KY to FL. The bag came apart at the seam during the first use. We did not have the bag overly loaded. As a result of the ripped seam, all of our luggage was soaked while driving through a rain storm. We have Yakima racks and a cargo basket on top of our SUV that we love! That is why I didn't hesitate to purchase the Yakima luggage bag. Unfortunately it did not live up to our expectations. Perhaps this was just a faulty bag. On the plus side, the bag is roomy, the tie downs are easily attached, and everything else about the bag seems to be of good quality. If only the seams were sewed together more securely.

I took this on a camping trip a couple of months ago, needed more space than could fit inside my car. I drove with it on the roof for about 3.5 hours each way, and though it tended to be a bit noisy on the highway, it certainly held up well. I wasn't driving in the rain, so I don't know how it would have held up to that. I stuffed a ton of stuff into it (a cot, three camp chairs, sleeping bags, and two tents), and it never seemed like the seems were going to split or anything. All in all I've considered it a good purchase.

I got this shortly before planning to use it and was unable to figure out how to attach to bars. I think I will really like it when someone has time to show me how to attach.
Drove over 2000 miles in one week. This bag held up very well. Encountered some rain, and a pillow inside of the bag was damp.
