Mounted easily to my Highlander factory roof rack horizontal bars. We loaded a 10' extra wide cockpit kayak upside down onto the rack. Tightened it, using the provided, easy to use straps and bow and stern straps. The kayak stayed solidly on the rack for a 17 hour jaunt from Vermont to North Carolina on Interstates traveling 70+ mph.

Just used this rack for a long trip with a plastic double kayak that has a large open cockpit. Double kayaks with one large cockpit are difficult to secure because where the straps cross the hull on a car-top carrier there is little support from crushing the boat. Racks that put the kayak on its side are not good for this boat design, but the Evenkeel works great at a low cost. I'm using it with factory crossbars which also save me money.

Evenkeel saddle kit seems like a solid product. Installed them on a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the flat factory roof rack cross bars. The clamps fit well even on the flat / oval shaped bars. seems to hold pretty tight. Held my 65 lb wilderness system tarpon kayak no problem during a recent 5 hour drive. My biggest concern is the factory bars themselves. the back bars started twisting and I am a bit concerned they might let loose at some point. It is not a knock against this product - just be aware you will likely be limited in what you can haul by the vehicle's cross bars, not these saddles (if you are using the factory bars on your vehicle). They are really grippy as well. It is a bit difficult to slide the kayak around once it is up sitting on all 4 of the saddles. I might try to remove the rubber grip material from the rear saddles to let it slide on and off easier.

I returned mine because they did NOT fit on my 1.5 inch bars. They seem like a very good product for smaller bars.

Mounted on factory crossbars on Honda CR-V (stretched elipse; doesn't fit Hullyrollers). Because they mounts are plastic there is the concern that they can be broken by tightening them too much. Despite being tightened as much as possible, in a crosswind rack slid and the boat ended up sitting on the crossbar. The rubber pads in the rack pop out easily as the boat is slid across them, and in crosswind-caused movement of the boat, one was lost.
Although not perfect, Hullyrollers work better, but only fit my field vehicle (using Yakima round bars).
