|Werner Ikelos Touring Sea Kayak Paddle - The Ikelos is an aggressive, full-sized, high angle touring design. Offering a lighter, buoyant feel, the Performance Core full-size blades are perfect for well conditioned and experienced paddlers who want a strong initial catch and maximum power in each stroke. It smoothly links forward and maneuvering strokes, and is also extremely stable for bracing and rolling. If you are ready to step up to premium performance, the Ikelos is the natural progression.
The Ikelos has an adjustable ferrule system, allowing elegant adjustment of your blade offset from 0° - 75° right or left in 15° increments. The Ikelos is offered in both straight and bent shaft models. The two-piece design makes for ease of travel and storage . Drip rings help keep your hands and lap dry.
After ten years of paddling all along the San Juans, I treated myself to a Werner Ikelos. What a difference the huge blade face made. I felt like I could turn my strokes around faster and move forward a lot faster in the water. Very light as well. Great paddle, very impressed.
This is the best large blade paddle on the market. Incredible construction, I have abused mine in many rock gardens and only make surface scratches. The blade slices out of the water amazing due to the foam core in the center making it bouyant. It is a great paddle for racing as its blade size is huge and catches large amounts of water. As always you get Werners supperior quality. I traded up from my Cyprus and I will never use another paddle.
Wow... what a great paddle! I was on the fence about going to a "high angle" paddle, but this was definitely the paddle for me. I realized that I can exert more thrust when the paddle is in the water closer to my boat. That is why I chose this paddle, and it has been great. I usually do about 8 miles on a large lake in about 2 hours(that includes breaks). I even did 30 miles in one day... 27 of those at a touch over 4 mph. So as far as long distance touring, I wouldn't consider it a liability if you are a strong paddler. (I am 5'10"/185 lbs). I plan to use this paddle for triathlons as well. Bent shaft works great and I never have any wrist fatigue that I had previously from paddling at"fitness speeds"
