Sizing for Stohlquist Trekker PFD Kayak Lifejacket:
After using this PFD on several lake and river outings, I feel good about giving the Stohlquist Trekker a 4 star rating. It affords good range of motion, is comfortable (I wore it while paddling and fishing to test this, once for 11 hours straight on a river trip that included close to a dozen portages) and durable with a lot of room for adjustment to size. As a scuba diver of 26 years, buoyancy is something I note in great detail--this vest provides plenty for me and my 6'1" frame (I've used it weighing both 188 lbs and 200 lbs). If I have any negative issues to point out, they are only minor ones. I do wish the padded portion of the shoulder straps were about 2" longer--more to allow the horizontal retaining strap/webbing on the shoulders to ride lower and serve as a convenient place to clip a folding knife rather than because of any comfort issue. I consider that knit-picking really. It's not the slimmest/least bulky of PFDs, but neither is it as bulky as some, so that aspect I remained neutral towards. It can ride up a bit if not adjusted snugly, but not unsafely so...and it can be a great benefit by allowing the padding on the back to clear the particularly high-backed seats we have (my girlfriend and I use a tandem hybrid kayak with folding/adjustable seats). After putting it through its paces during reentry drills in deep water, I feel extremely confident about being in the water while wearing this particular vest. No bells and whistles, just comfort and reliable water-worthy performance.

Very comfy mesh back to fit above kayak seat or my
canoe with a back rest. Wide neoprene shoulder straps are way more
comfy than just nylon webbing.Could use some more pockets/expansion devices but it is a low price PFD that puts comfort first.

Since it is always worn, even in calm waters, comfort
is a key parameter. I am not even aware that I am wearing it during
our kayaking rides. Convenient pockets useful for whistle, car key,
etc.
