Petzl XION Rock Climbing Rope - The XION Climbing Rope is Petzl's toughest all-around rope. The 10.1 mm diameter is extra durable and the weave is specially designed to offer an excellent hand and a suppleness similar to that of thinner ropes. In addition, the XION has 22 percent more sheath by weight than comparable ropes in the Petzl lineup. The XION is great for those who want the increased longevity of a larger-diameter rope without sacrificing ease of handling. Duratec Dry treatment helps prevent the rope from absorbing water, which can weaken a rope and make it difficult to handle in freezing conditions. Before a Petzl rope is constructed, the core and sheath strands are individually treated, providing water repellencty in case you find yourself in a deluge, snowfield or on a dripping ice chandelier. All Petzl ropes are butterfly coiled in the factory and are ready to use straight out of the package. This coiling method means no more tangled mess when you first use your new rope. Gone is the tedious operation of carefully uncoiling, flaking and reflaking your new rope, only to end up with annoying kinks. With the XION, just tie-in and start climbing. To help facilitate descents, the middle of each Petzl cord is marked with a black bar. Even with this marking, it’s sometimes a good idea to tie a knot at the end of the rope as an additional safety measure. The Petzl XION Climbing Rope is specially created to withstand heavy use, from hangdog sessions, to abrasive rocks, to big-wall climbs, so get out there and gitcha some!

No complaints about this rope. I've used it toproping, leading in the gym, leading in the Red, leading and toproping slabby moderates, and done a few two pitch climbs on it. It's held up quite well. There's some fuzzing on it in places, but it still handles great. It is very soft and feeds really well. Just feels good to belay and to clip with. Taken a fair number of falls on it and it's a soft catch and I totally trust it. Would recommend and would buy again.

I bought this rope about a year ago. I've used it pretty heavily, taken TONS of people toproping and also done a fair amount of leading on it. I never have to worry about abrasion with the extra thick sheath, gotta love that. As long as you don't do anything stupid, it's super durable. My sheath has very little visible damage so far and I've been pretty abusive on the sheath. I'm very happy with this rope and would recommend it to anyone who wants a durable rope. I.E. toproping, first rope, rough rock, etc... It's one heck of a workhorse and really inspires confidence.
