Acadia II 14.0: This mid-sized tandem has an adjustable rotomolded bow seat on rails for a custom fit so it can accommodate long-legged and petite paddlers. The Acadia II's super-high seat backs and large comfortable seats allow you to glide through the water in the lap of luxury. Zone Performance Outfitting allows you to intuitively connect with your boat and provides instant adjustment to improve comfort and control. There's also enough room for your child or pooch with the removable third seat. If you are taking them out for an overnight stay you will find the dry storage and deck rigging system come in handy for carrying your camping gear.
Carbon/Fiberglass Swell Plus: The Swell is designed for a more relaxed low-angle stroke and crafted with the most discerning kayak devotee in mind. With a T-700 carbon fiber shaft the Swell provides amazing durability for the weight. Balanced and flutter-free composite blades further reduce weight so you can paddle longer with less fatigue. With the Telescoping Adjustable Ferrule, you can customize your paddling experience instantly. Set the feather angle of your blades to minimize wind resistance without causing wrist fatigue. Telescope the Swell to the ideal length for your paddling style and conditions.
aSEA PFD: The aSEA is designed specifically for boaters looking for a soft form-fitting vest with added ventilation and the performance of a high cut back. The lower half of the vest’s back is cool mesh, providing air circulation and fitting comfortably above the higher seat backs found in many of today’s recreational and touring boats. The upper half provides flotation and an accessory lash tab for a strobe. Extra-wide armholes and open sides offer great comfort and a full range of motion. Large dual bellows pocket offer a D-ring for keys, and expand to fit a beverage can! Reflective tape front and back adds safety in low-visibility conditions.
Seals Tandem Skirt (T100 Deck): Make both you and your partner drier and happier. This high-quality tandem kayak skirt is constructed of medium-weight nylon pack cloth, with double-stitched and taped seams to ensure a watertight fit. It is coated with waterproof polyurethane and has adjustable drawstring waistbands to accommodate a wide range of paddlers. A strong bungee grip system secures the skirt securely around the cockpit, while a front grab loop makes removing the skirt simple and easy. Reflective piping makes for greater visibility and safety in low-light conditions.

Nice starter boat. I took my three year old out on it into windy waters. Even with his leaning this way and that, it was easily kept stable. It’s fast for a tandem and pretty steerable. Like has been said MANY times, too heavy for one person to get on and off a car top easily. Other than that, it's a great first family boat.

I first purchased a Wilderness systems Pungo 140 thinking I could at least get my small dog into and later get one for my wife and baby on the way. Short story was no way the dog and I could fit into the Pungo, so I decided on a tandem. Finally getting it out on the water, it tracked better than the Pungo and I thought it was faster as well. I've had it out by myself, with the dog and me, and with my wife and dog. It performed well in all scenarios. I'm going camping soon and it will be great to carry all the gear plus the dog. I haven't had it on any rivers, but with the hull design it looks like it would be good up to class 2. Only problem I have is the weight. I bought a kayak cart and it's no big deal. I would definitely recommend this boat.

A pretty nice handling kayak, turns and tracks pretty good and that’s from the back. So no doubt it will do great paddling solo from the center. The only thing that detracts at all is weight. But I knew that going in so no big deal. Have help available or keep the distance from the car to river short. Overall I like it a lot.

Overall, this is a great boat. I researched tandems for about a year, and the Acadia offered the best options (for me) for the money. My wife, one-year-old daughter, and I use this craft for easy day trips. Pluses include the more than ample carrying capacity and cockpit space. It also tracks well, is extremely stable and has decent speed, especially for a large tandem. It is a fairly hefty boat, at 80-lbs, but with Yakima Hully-rollers on the top of the car and a good carrier, I have no problem loading, unloading and launching the kayak by myself. A good carrier will also help prevent damage to the keel. Bottom line: a great, versatile boat.
