Womens Traverse Jacket
|Patagonia Women's Traverse Jacket - Mist at the trailhead, sunshine through the ferns and swirling skies over the pass - the dependable women's Traverse Jacket from Patagonia handles it all and keeps pace with your stride the entire way. The breathable, fast-drying and stretchy recycled polyester/spandex fabric is treated with a Deluge DWR finish to resist wet weather. The Traverse seals out wind and chill with wind flap zipper cover and garage, a mesh-lined stand-up collar, and gathered elastic cuffs. A drawcord waist and hem and a slightly dropped tail provide additional protection. The sleeves are cut long to cover your hands and two zippered pockets thaw chilled fingers. With reflective logos on the front and back, the Patagonia women's Traverse Jacket is reading for the trail.
Sizing for Patagonia Women's Traverse Jacket:
Note - this garment has a slim fit: Closer-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.
I was searching for a lightweight soft shell jacket and this one turned out to be the perfect three season running jacket (in winter I plan to wear it with a mid weight or lightweight merino shirt depending on the temperatures) . It blocks the wind and rain, and provides great protection but is so lightweight! The description says it is a slim fit, which I think is a bit misleading, it has a tailored shape and a flattering cut but still is roomy enough to be very comfortable. It is also versatile and has enough style to be worn for casual and not just sports (most of my other running jackets I would never wear for casual).
If you're looking for a windproof jacket, this guy does the trick. I take it trail running and it doesn't overheat me like most jackets. I'm finicky about carrying unneeded gear when I run, but this jacket is super lightweight (4.7oz), and tying it around my waist doesn't bother me (though I hardly take it off). Remember, however, this jacket is water RESISTANT, not waterproof ;) Not sure how Patagonia tops size regularly, but I'm usually between a S and M in tops due to wider shoulders and this S fit perfectly.

This jacket is perfect for aerobic activity like speed walking, XC skiing, or cycling. It's not too warm since it is not insulated. I wear a long sleeve Patagonia base layer and a vest under it for the perfect mix of layers and just zip and unzip as needed. The sleeves are long enough to pull down over my hands if they get cold. I'm a pear shape and it fits true to size covering my bum without being tight. My only complaint is that it seems a bit tight in the shoulders but because it is a soft shell, it is flexible without being noisy, so I just try to ignore the shoulder thing. It's great as a windbreaker but I have yet to wear it in the snow or rain.
