Patagonia Women's Alpine Houdini Jacket - Featherweight, emergency storm protection for light-and-fast alpine endeavors, the Women's Alpine Houdini Jacket by Patagonia disappears when clipped to your harness, but deploys to shed wind and precip when your weather window closes. You see, the problem is that you never see it coming on the Diamond. One moment you're climbing vertical, east-facing granite at 13,000 feet. The next you're staring at heavy, dark clouds boiling over the summit from the west. Seconds later, lightning cracks. The Alpine Houdini's ultralight waterproof/breathable membrane, and absence of anything superfluous, serves as a crucial component to alpine rock climbing, and its afternoon thunderstorms. It is emergency rainwear for climbing that also blocks wind and traps your heat on chilly belay ledges. It packs into its single internal chest pocket (with clip-in loop) and seals up with the elastic wrist cuffs and a single-pull drawcord waist. With a helmet-compatible, single-pull adjustable hood you're ready for anything. You'll never be caught off-guard when you pack your Patagonia Women's Alpine Houdini Jacket.

This jacket is perfect. It's super light weight so you can barely even feel it when you're wearing it. I use it for biking and it cuts through the wind really well. I've also used it for running, and it's great because it's so lightweight, you can take it off and tie it around your waist without even knowing it's there. It's warmer than you would believe based off how thin it is, making it even more awesome. I love this jacket, one of the best purchases I've made in awhile. And it all stuffs into its tiny front pocket..pretty sweet!

This jacket changed my life. No, seriously. I'm spending the winter season in Pittsburgh, where it's been sleeting, raining, snowing, and blowing. I put on a mid-weight capilene, a light running vest, and this jacket, and I'm ready to face them all. Especially when there's moisture and wind, this is now my go-to piece. Also, the fit is incredibly flattering--I love the cut and the length, which is midhip. It's not too tight, though, and it allows for layering underneath. I'm 5'4" 132 and I'm a M. Also, the hood is adjustable and can be worn while running without a second thought. My ONLY complaint is one that's to be expected with a water-resistant barrier. I sweat, and the moisture stays inside the jacket if it's damp outside. However, I will say that once it stops raining, even my sweat seems to work its way out of the jacket pretty well. I don't mind getting wet from my own sweat as much as I mind freezing my butt off, so this thing is the best. If you don't live where it's horribly rainy, this is still a great jacket for wind. I prefer a more permeable layer, however, when it's a nice dry cold. I plan on putting this thing at the bottom of my pack this summer, too, as my emergency weather layer!
