Mens Simple Guide Softshell Jacket
|Patagonia Men's Simple Guide Jacket - The Men's Simple Guide Jacket by Patagonia is their lightest-weight alpine softshell jacket. The Simple Guide is made of recycled polyester that's a breathable, wind- and abrasion-resistant stretch-woven fabric that's treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. The fabric wicks moisture and dries quickly, but is still durable enough to survive all day in a gritty offwidth. A microfleece-lined neck and wind flap provides for next-to-skin comfort. Two zippered handwarmer pockets and a zippered exterior left chest pocket give you room to stash essentials. The adjustable hook-and-loop cuff closures and drawcord hem keep the elements out so you stay dry and comfortable. Whether you're hiking in by headlamp, summiting by noon, or relaxing after your late-day cragging over beers, the Patagonia Men's Simple Guide Jacket can do it all.

I bought this jacket for 3 seasons everyday use. I finally got to wear it this month (I live in the North East) and it has quickly become my favorite go-to jacket. The jacket has a very nice fit, it is just right for temps in the 40 to 60 or so range. My Medium is big enough to allow me to wear a light fleece or a lightweight sweater under it for additional warmth. It shrugs off light precipitation. The pockets are fine, I especially like the chest pocket for passport and other valuables when traveling. The sleeves are a bit on the long side, but not annoyingly so, the velcro closures are just okay, but I keep them slightly loose so I do not have to open them every time!
I was looking for a great all around jacket and I found it in the Simple Guide. I use this for work and when outdoors. Lightweight, resists wind and water resistant, great slim fit. Unless it is cold and rainy or just plain brutally cold out, this is my absolute best go to jacket!
I’ve owned the Simple Guide Jacket for almost a year. I’m not a climber, so I’ve only worn this jacket around town and on day hikes. For my purposes, it is a really great looking garment that has a high degree of COMFORT and ease of motion, and a reasonable amount of wind and light rain protection. I live in the rather mild climate of the Sierra foothills, so I don’t need a warm coat most of the year. Worn over a sweater, this jacket works well. While its insulating value is only slightly greater than a thin nylon shell, its durability is many times greater: you don’t worry about ripping it on thorns or jagged rock. The fabric is beautiful: feels soft, launders well, never wrinkles, always looks sharp. The excellent collar is high enough to protect your neck well. The jacket’s cut is excellent - it makes even a less-than-svelte body look trim. I’m a satisfied customer!
