NRS Outlaw I Inflatable Kayak - The Outlaw I Inflatable Kayak by NRS is the boat that will steal your heart away the next time you hit your favorite watering hole. Its rigid floor and extra width create a craft that's stable enough for beginners while making adrenaline junkies smile, and all at a price that won't break the bank. The PVC-coated polyester material repels abrasion and slides over rocks with ease, while the PVC-coated drop-stitch floor insert inflates rock hard for superior wave-punching performance, and is removable for easy cleaning and repair. The tubes and thwart seat inflated to 2.5 psi, combined with the floor insert with its rigid 8-10 psi air pressure, create an exceptionally high-performance kayak and the 37.5 inch width gives you extra stability when the water gets rough. An 18 inch rocker height helps the Outlaw climb over waves, while 10.5 inch tubes and a 4 inch self-bailing floor provide plenty of flotation. The inflatable thwart seat secures to drain holes in the floor, allowing you to place it just where you need it and two stainless steel D-rings let you secure water bottles and other gear. Bow and stern handles make the Outlaw easy to carry while also providing extra tie-down points and top-quality Leafield C7 valves ensure trouble free inflation and deflation. If your idea of heaven is shooting your favorite rapids, you will love the Outlaw I Inflatable Kayak by NRS.
I paddled the new Outlaw for the first time yesterday on the Nantahala. It performed very well. It was easy to inflate and outfit with thigh straps that I recommend for any serious IK paddler. Like the Bandit which I also own, it was quick, easy to handle, and got me where I needed to go on the river. The only issue I had was a little water was around my butt all the time. This indention in the water was also a rock-catcher, but since it was only a few inches it was not a major issue. I inflated the floor to about 4.5 pounds, which is less than the recommended 8-10 pounds. My electric pump only goes to 4.5. I will likely use my foot pump next time to get to roughly 8-10 pounds to see if that gets any better. My Bandit also had a cheetah chair versus the thwart backrest. I prefer the chair.
The flat, rock solid drop stitch floor will make you smile. Turns on a dime and handles as big a drop as you can. Easy to wash out, inflate and deflate, fold and drys fast. The workmanship is the best I have seen in this price range. Yesterday I ordered a second Outlaw, the truth is these kayaks should be bought in pairs. Nobody wants to paddle that other thing they used to paddle after they have paddled an Outlaw on Thailands boulder strewn rivers.
