Direttissima 50 Backpack
|Mountain Hardware Direttissima 50 Backpack - The Direttissima 50 Backpack by Mountain Hardwear is THE choice of climbing guides and serious alpinists. The flexible design concept allows removing or adding pack components for optimal versatility. Multiple lash points and long compression webbing allow for overloads while effectively reducing volume as needed to keep any size load stable. The HardWave suspension conforms comfortably to the curve of your back and distributes weight evenly but is removable for carrying light loads. A removable high strength aluminum stay offers additional load support. A large zippered front pocket allows storage of frequently needed items or tools and maintains volume even when main compartment is full. Easy access crampon stash pocket and an intuitive, easy to secure and adjust ice-ax/ tool carry system with a pass-through sleeve keeps your ice gear at the ready. A removable padded waist belt, with gear loops, adds stability and you can swap the padded waist belt for a webbing belt (included) when carrying lighter loads. The Mountain Hardwear Direttissima 50 Backpack hits the sweet spot with the right balance of durability, versatility, volume and weight for one-day to multi-day climbs.
Sizing for the Mountain Hardware Direttissima 50 Backpack:
Love this bag. Very durable, super supportive, love all the gear loops, and the hidden straps come in handy for securing overloads (or to compress smaller loads). If you have the right packable gear, this bag can easily be used for a three or four day treck. Also stays dry inside, when snow hiking if I can't get to a tree to hang it from I've just plopped it down in the snow for a short break with no worries. Only 4* because the removable top piece likes to slip loose if there is any weight in it, but this is an easy fix by just changing out the sliders on the webbing. Also there is a place for a bladder but there is no exit for the hose so you must keep the pouch partially unzipped in the corner which is not a problem but just a visual thing. Also I wish there was a mesh pocket for a water bottle or a small pocket on the waist strap... Wishes not necessities though. Great bag lots of space (when you need it) and very comfy. I've used this bag for day hikes to weekend trips and plan to use it for some more extended trips soon!
