I have used this tent extensively backpacking on the AT, in Shenandoah NP, at Philmont Scout Ranch, and during a solo excursion on Wheeler Peak in New Mexico. While there must be better one man tents out there, this tent hits a price/value point that is hard to beat. Good points-lightweight material, excellent construction, it really is under 3 pounds packed, free standing setup, and ample room inside. Bad points-smallish vestible, needs staking out to get the most room out of it. This tent is longer than most solo tents and could fit a +6 foot person. There's adequate room inside to fit a pad and bag plus loose gear jammed up into the head corners. To get the most out of it one must stake out the side points at the foot end-this isn't need to erect the tent but to spread the foot end out. It has a freestanding body design that only needs three stakes to tie it down, but five are recommended to spread the foot out. The stakes that come with it are not throwaways but are excellent quality V type stakes (mine came with ten stakes). Lots of mesh on the tent body, so ventilation is excellent. The fly has enough material to allow one to guy it out along the sides to get the most ventilation while getting rain away from the body-I have never gotten wet in this tent while riding out some wicked weather. The doorway can be opened from either the top or bottom, so one can make a top vent that can be quickly closed. You can even sit up in it-at least I can do so within the 38 inch peak at the head end. The vestible comes down sharply so there is enough room for boots and maybe a small/medium pack. It appears to me that the designers chose to maximize room inside the tent over storage space, which is an acceptable compromise in my opinion. I made a Tyvek ground cloth which fits inside the stuff sack along with the tent. The entire packed arrangement weighs 2 lbs, 15 oz and measures 7"x15".

At 6'2", I've found most solo tents to be an extremely tight fit (head or feet usually toughing one end of the tent). That isn't the case with the Big Agnes Seedhouse SL-1 tent. I fit comfortably inside the tent and can actually sit up inside of it (head does rub the sides but at least you have the option). Out of all of the solo tents I've slept in, this one provides the most room and most comfort for a backpacker of my size. The tent is heavier than other ultralight solo options (2.5 lbs versus 1.5/2 lbs), but the extra half pound/pound are worth it in my opinion. The tent packs to a very small size and easily fits inside my Atmos 65 pack. It includes a rainfly and thus far condensation has not been an issue. The tent is also very durable for its weight/size and has held up in a number of inclement weather conditions. I love the mesh pocket inside at the head of the tent; great for hanging the lamp, ipod and socks. The vestibule is tiny to say the least (enough room for boots and a jacket), but the tent provides enough room that you should be able to fit your sleeping pad, sleeping bag, and pack inside the tent with you. Bottom line is I give it a 5 because it provides a very comfortable sleeping experience, is a breeze to set up, and only takes up a small amount of space and weight in your pack.
