I like everything about the Copper Spur 2. I bought it to backpack with when I fly out west each fall. The tent is lightweight yet very spacious (for one). It uses a one pole system and sets up very quickly; sheds rain flawlessly; very windproof. The two door design is great for the times when there are two people using the tent.

I bought this tent when planning a 3-week road trip with my dog, and to replace my (very sentimental-memoried) 30-year-old Eureka 2-person dome tent. That means I have not experienced all of the tent innovations made over the past 3 decades (my Eureka was not even free-standing). I mention that because those who are more gear-saavy may find fault with this tent. I, on the other hand, LOVE it. It rained almost every night that I camped on this trip - including 2 nights on the SW coast of WA state with wind gusts of 40-50 miles per hour. The tent stayed bone dry, windproof and secure. The fly also dried off very easily/quickly. In eastern WA, I had to set up in high winds off the lake. Yes, the lightweightness makes it a bit of a challenge to set up in strong wind (but what lightweight tent is easy to set up in wind?) -- but with a little effort to keep it weighted down with gear as you're putting the poles together and then getting gear inside while you're staking it, it's quite easy to overcome the wind. The complaints I read about the fly design were of no concern to me. On the contrary, I found the fly easy to set up, easy to use/enter/exit the tent, and providing excellent vestibule space for shoes, boots, etc. The complaints I've read about wind noise also make no sense to me. As mentioned, I spent 2 very windy, stormy nights in the tent and found it cozy and easy, comfy sleeping. As a 5'5", 130-pound woman with a 30-pound dog, the tent was the perfect size -- allowing for plenty of room for gear (and for my dog to move around, spread out or cuddle up, as she pleased). It would be fine with a second person not much bigger than I am. I would not recommend this tent for a larger person unless you plan to use it solo. That's the only concern I mention. Otherwise, I highly recommend this tent.
